The DEMAT Board of Trustees as the employer, has overall responsibility for health and safety in schools, but tasks are delegated to the Executive and also school leaders. This is set out in non-statutory advice on health and safety from the Department for Education (DfE).

To ensure DEMAT is meeting its legal responsibilities, the following Health and Safety Policy document and Statement document apply to all DEMAT academies and the Shared Services Team.
