Alex Hughes has served as a Director of DEMAT since 2014, alongside his wider role as Chair of the Diocese of Ely Board of Education which oversees all Diocesan church schools and academies.

He strongly believes that a quality education combines academic achievement with a positive ethos and wisdom for living. Alex was ordained in 2000 and currently serves as Archdeacon of Cambridge.

He has always had a love of learning and for many years he has been involved in supporting local schools in various parts of the country. 

Alex is married to a psychotherapist, and they have two school-age sons. Alex loves live music and riding his Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.
