The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report (SIAMS) found that Tilney All Saints Church of England Primary School ‘fosters a strong sense of family and shared values’ and that leaders ensure all pupils have equal opportunities meaning that ‘all thrive and no-one is left behind’.
The positive inspection, which is carried out across all Church of England schools, comes just weeks after the school was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
The aim of the SIAMS inspection is to establish how well a school promotes its distinctive Christian vision and how effective this is in helping children to flourish.
Many of the school’s strengths were highlighted, including that pupils can ‘talk about injustice and recognise it in many forms’ and ‘talk about worldviews and faiths with confidence and interest and are beginning to reflect on belief systems and their impact on society and culture’.
The school’s collective worship was found to be a ‘special moment of the day’ and that there is a ‘rich variety of experience including biblical text, songs, stillness and invitational prayer’.
Executive Headteacher Dawn Liddle said the whole school is proud of its latest SIAMS report.
“Our vision to create a safe, nurturing environment where everyone can blossom, is central to our teaching and this report highlights the hard work of staff and the commitment of pupils to this every day,” she said. “As part of our distinctive Christian vision, our values also include giving all pupils the opportunity to be empowered to make good choices through the Spirit of God and we are delighted that the report recognises the strength and positive impact of collective worship in our school.”
The extensive report praised the school and its leaders for the breadth of opportunities on offer for pupils to learn and grow, both academically and spiritually and in its summary, noted that ‘driven by its Christian vision leaders work to ensure that pupils benefit from a wide range of learning opportunities. Positive attitudes and values based on the school’s vision are encouraged and regarded as an outpouring of the spirit in the life of the school’.
Year 5 pupil Marilena Smith described the school community at Tilney as being ‘like a family’.
She said: “Everyone’s really friendly and kind.
“Our school is equal to all beliefs, and this is taught through Christian values. Our RE lessons create an awareness of everyone’s right to individual beliefs.
“I’m really proud to be a member of the school.”
Miss Liddle added: “We strive to help our pupils be the best version of themselves and will continue to build upon the success of this report, coupled with our recent positive Ofsted inspection.
“I am proud of our school’s ethos and sense of community and know that we will carry on working hard together to be our best selves, always looking to improve where possible.”
