St Luke’s bids fond farewell to staff member of nearly thirty years
This term staff and pupils at St Luke’s Primary School in Cambridge said an emotional goodbye to one of the school’s longest serving team members.

Nicola Brunning joined the school in February 1994 and worked as Office Manager and in a pastoral role, overseeing the education and care of close to 7000 children during her time there.
The school came together for a special leaving event for Nicola, which included a Collective Worship, a performance from the school choir and a specially written prayer of thanks.
Headteacher Beccy Ireland said:
“We cannot express in words how grateful to Nicola we are for the 29 years of service she has given to St Luke’s and the wider community.
“Nicola has been a significant part of the school during many changes and has supported thirteen Headteachers over the years. Her dedication has been incredible and her work has meant a great deal to so many children and their families as well as all of the staff who have worked with her.”
Nicola is said to have remained close to many families who have known her over her time at the school, as well as staff both past and present.
The school presented her with a special leaving collection and card which staff said, “reflected personal gratitude from across the years.”
Beccy Ireland added:
“Nicola remains a close part of our school and we’re glad to say we’ll still see her as she will be dropping off her grandchild to school - we are all delighted that she will be remaining close by.”
